I’m a GMC-registered physician with sixteen years in medicine. I didn’t come into aesthetics to chase trends — I came into it because I kept seeing women leave other clinics looking different, but not necessarily better, and certainly not understood.

When I reached my late 40s I became increasingly unhappy with my droopy eye bags, my marionette lines and the deepening lines on my forehead — I called them my 'number 11s'. I spent a small fortune on expensive moisturisers that promised to 'lift' and 'rejuvenate'."
Every so often I would tentatively mention to my husband that I'd like to try just a little something for my lines. He would laugh and say things like, "No, you don't need it," or "You're gorgeous the way you are."
And then, after 20 years of marriage, he decided the marriage was over and left me for a younger woman.
I'm not ashamed to say that it broke me — emotionally and physically. I was 55 years old. The lines on my face seemed to get deeper and deeper and I hated looking in the mirror. The thought that I would have to start all over again terrified me. I began seeing a therapist (I still do) and tried to cope as best as I could.
Eventually I decided I had to do something. I went to a lovely nurse-run beauty clinic and had a treatment for my lines because, let's face it, I no longer had anyone telling me "no" and could finally do as I pleased. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, and the aesthetician advised that I should see a doctor who could offer the treatment I actually needed.
She created a long-term plan and started to work. I've had several treatments — mainly hydration treatments for the jawline, frown lines, mouth, chin, neck and hands, along with fillers in my cheeks and lips. She knew exactly what she was doing and could see results I could never have imagined. My trust in her guidance was everything.
I couldn't believe the results. I still look like me — just a lot less like my Nan.
I want to make one thing clear: I didn't do this to find a new man. I did it for me — for my self-confidence and self-esteem. And I like looking in the mirror now.
I now only need top-up treatments once a year. Dr Tania's long-term plan really is exactly that. Now, at 60, I feel I'm growing older as gracefully as I can. I barely wear makeup these days because I'm genuinely content with my appearance.

Yes, and it happens more often than you’d think. If I don’t believe treatment is the right answer — medically or aesthetically — I’ll say so, and explain why.

This is a common reason people come to me. We talk through a plan to correct course gradually and conservatively — not in one dramatic reversal. It takes patience, but it’s worth doing properly.
Yes, though I’ll ask more questions than you might expect. Most healthy younger patients don’t need what they think they do, and I’d rather tell you that early than take your money and treat something that didn’t need treating. Injectable treatments are only for adults aged 18 and over.
